OK, so we now have proof that the world’s climate is completely out of whack. It’s snowing in Barcelona… in March! Back in Toronto, Canada, where I’m from, it’s currently 10 degrees Celsius, sunny, and beautiful. What is going on?!

Snow in Barcelona is so uncommon that we can’t even get a reliable answer on when the last time was that it snowed like this (Edit: Local media sources are saying the last time was 1993). After 6 years living in Barcelona and I can remember snow one time, about a year ago, but it was nothing compared to this.
Barcelona weather in March is usually beautiful and sunny and quickly approaching summer, but alas, this March we find ourselves in a surprise winter wonderland. The bus system has gone down, people are leaving work early, traffic is at a stand still and snowball fights are breaking out all over the place! Read more...
Second day at MWC
Monday we spend our first day at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and took some interesting shots for our MWC Exihbition Impression Video. Yesterday the SuiteLife-Team again went to the Mobile World Congress 2010 and this time we visited the App Planet. Here we met a lot of Application developers, Content providers, Operators, Device makers and platform owners. Big Companies such as Vodafone, BlackBerry, Sony Ericsson, WP, and Motorola were present. Google had it’s own Android Developer Lab.
I’ve been in Barcelona for 5 years and have only ever seen the monstrosity that is the 3GSM mobile show from the street passing by. This year I was lucky enough to get a badge to enter.
First of all, the show is HUGE, the biggest one I’ve ever been to for sure. There are so many exhibit halls, each with thousands of people and booths. You could probably spend a full day in each section. On day one I walked around and visited some of the bigger companies to see what they were doing. Samsung & Blackberry (Research in Motion) must have spent millions on their custom designed booths. We also saw a very cool new product that lets you charge all your mobile devices without the hassle of chargers and tangled chords called PowerMat.

The question is not “who‘s exhibiting at WMC 2010 but who’s not? – The 2010 Mobile World Congress starts next week Monday the 15th -18 th of February, in Barcelona and provides 1,300 companies with the chance to present solutions for the mobile future. MWC Passes are outstandingly expensive (one pass ranging from € 599 to € 4,999) but it offers the opportunity to meet with approximately 50,000 key decision-makers.
When I arrived last Wednesday at Plaza España, to take the bus to my beach volleyball lesson at Inefc, (Institut nacional d’educació física de Catalunya ) 5 days before the actual staging, the exciting atmosphere of an international event was already noticeable. People were running around, setting things up, wanting to be ready in time for when the MWC opens its doors on Monday morning. Even when I arrived up at the Inefc building, cars were parked up the mountain and everything was choc-a-bloc. So being here in Barcelona, while the world watches the MWC is an exciting experience which I want to share with you. On Monday we will provide you with the first inside fair Impressions of 2010 – so stick with us. Read more...

Carlos Arroyo, El Maestro
SuiteLife Barcelona would like to present Carlos Arroyo, lovingly referred to by his friends as either ‘el Maestro’ (the Teacher) or ‘DJ Charlie Corbata’. Whatever you decide to call him, one thing is clear, Carlos is amazing with a video cam.
The up-and-comer really only got into video about a year ago when he purchased a mini HD camera to take with him on a 6 week trip to explore Cuba and Southern Mexico. He returned with gigabytes and gigabytes of footage. One new Mac, a copy of FinalCut, and many hours later, what emerged was, in my opinion, a quite creative and vivid montage of the ‘vida Cubana’.
