On my first post on how to learn Spanish online for free I presented some interactive Spanish learning websites and interactive platforms, which offered a variety of entertaining learning elements and, in some cases, some social networks as well. These offered the possibility to practice Spanish in real time with other platform members. Today I will present some different Spanish learning websites and tools which I really like and which will help me to practice and develop my Spanish speaking skills while I am here in Barcelona.
studyspanish.com
I will start with one of the Spanish learning websites which is a Must-Read for everybody who is seriously interested in learning the basics of the Spanish language. I am talking about the Spanish learning website studyspanish.com. This website gives you a great overview about a bunch of important vocabulary bundled in topic related units.Learning vocabulary is great but there are a lot of more interactive and entertaining Spanish learning websites. But what I really like about this website is its grammar section. Read more...

Gyms in Barcelona come in all shapes, sizes, and prices. My goal was to find the perfect one for me. I made a list of things that were important to me and set off on my search. I first tried using Google maps to locate the closest ones to my flat, but realised that the results were not exhaustive. Then I got my lazy self off the couch, put on my running shoes, and took a tour around my neighbourhood (BTW, if you’re interested check out our blog on “The Top 5 Barcelona Neighborhoods“). This is the best way to research gyms. After all, the chances of you actually going to gym is partly determined by it’s proximity to your place of residence. So get out there, walk around, and make your initial list of options so you can then evaluate them! Read more...

My research was very successful because there are actually a lot of cool Spanish learning websites, which offer a variety of interesting and entertaining free Spanish lessons. Having a Foreign driving license in Barcelona
I was trying to cross a street in Barcelona recently. There were three lanes of cars and next to it another two lanes of motor bikes waiting to speed off. As my pedestrian light was green I started crossing the street, however only half way across the light mysteriously turned red. As cars tend to do in Barcelona, the split-second their light turned green they all slammed on the gas as I tried to run and make it to the other side of the street without being mangled or simply run over. Before making it to the other side, the motor bikes had already flown by me. One moto missed me by by less than a centimeter and almost sent me flying into a nearby tree. As I recovered my breath and tried to reduce my pulse to a normal level, the biker turned around to ask me if I was crazy. I explained to him that the pedestrian’s light had malfunctioned and I was not indeed trying to kill myself. He apologised and went of. So I decided to find out how to get my own driving license in Barcelona and below is what I found. Read more...
I experienced that finding a cheap supermarket in Barcelona isn’t so easy, especially when you’re new to Barcelona and are still trying to check out where to find the next affordable supermarket in the Barcelona neighbourhood you’re living in. By affordable, I mean prices which students, interns or young professionals who’ve just moved to Barcelona and have a lot of expenses at the beginning, can easily afford.
But let me get this straight: Even though some supermarkets in Barcelona are more expensive than others, that doesn’t mean they differ from other supermarkets around the world. Well, obviously supermarkets in Barcelona have a somewhat different food range than supermarkets in Bangladesh. In general though, food prices in Barcelona are more expensive than food prices in eastern countries or Germany, but less expensive then in Great Britain or Scandinavian Countries.

Barcelona Metro Tips
Here are some useful information and tips for newbies in Barcelona Metro: metro system, tickets and hours! Barcelona great metro system will take you everywhere quickly and easily. Having lived in places like Rome and Los Angeles where public transportation is kind of a hassle, I was ready for anything and obviously agreeably surprised as I noticed how developed Barcelona public transportation was.
Line system:
Barcelona subway system is composed of several subway lines managed by different operators and divided in 6 zones.
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) operates the mostly used lines: the Red L1, Purple L2, Light Green L3 and L11, Yellow L4 and Light Blue L5.
As a tourist and even as a student, if your school or university isn’t too far from the center, I advise you to consider Zone 1 as a priority and Zone 2 if you wish. Only then consider all other zones depending on what you want to do. Read more...

Barcelona Pickpockets love tourists
Yes, there are already many blogs and articles written on pickpockets in Barcelona and how to recognize and avoid them. We strongly feel though that you can never be warned enough. Here are five true stories based on our own, as well as friends’, experiences with Barcelona pickpockets.
1) One night after work, our friend Carlos was riding the metro home. It was rush hour and the metro was jam-packed as per usual. He was listening to his iPod and minding his own business. He was standing near the doors and was wearing a suit with his wallet in one of the pockets of the suit jacket. At some point he felt someone gently pushing on his lower back. Normal pushing on the crowded metro, he thought to himself. Seconds later, Carlos noticed his wallet was missing.
How did he get robbed on the metro? Read more...
