Ojos de Brujo The Most Famous Musicians from Barcelona
Ojos de Brujo originated in Barcelona, the group’s name (eyes of the sorcerer) refers to a way of looking at the world and everything in it with a certain degree of depth and wisdom, something similar to reading between the lines, as the group members explained.
Some of the Most Famous Musicians from Barcelona formed the group Ojosde Brujo in 1996 after continuous jam sessions in the neighbourhood Raval where the founders often met at Carrer dels Escudellers number 6 with a lot of other now world famous musicians. The place turned into a Mecca for all kinds of musicians from North Africa, Southern Europe, and Latin America. People used to meet each other and improvise even performing live on the streets for free. Read more...

Barcelona’s most famous musicians: Macaco
One of Barcelona’s most famous musicians Macaco explains in an interview how it all started;
“Carrer dels Escudellers number 6”, says singer Dani Carbonell, in the heart of Barcelona – was the address where it all started about ten years ago. “On the first floor there were prostitutes, we were on the second floor – the musician squatters, and on the top floor there lived Maghreb’s thieves who after robbing someone hid in ‘Alibaba’s cave and the forty bandits’ as we used to call the parking lot on the ground floor”.
Nowadays the formal house of Carbonell alias Macaco seems peaceful in the narrow alley behind the Plaça Real. The continuous cleaning and restoring anger of the city has made a noticeable difference, the only thing that could point out the existence of the “cave” is the clean blue sign with a white P on it. And nothing shows that this was the formal breeding ground of Barcelona’s most famous musician Macaco and flamenco group Ojos de Brujo. Read more...

How to find a Gay Bar in the Gay Eixample in Barcelona?
Well, just ask anyone: “¡Hola! Buscamos Café Dietrich. ¿Sabeís donde esta?”
Have you ever heard of Gay Eixample, or “Gaixample”?
Well, my friend had not and I was eager to discover the hot Gay area of Barcelona, situated right in the middle of the city, in Eixample to be more precise. The word comes from a conjunction of ‘Gai‘, which means gay in Catalán, and ‘Eixample“, which is Catalán for extension (the name of the neighbourhood).
Actually, the Gaixample (strictly) is bordered by the following streets: Balmes, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Comte d’Urgell, and Aragó. If you go to the area of C/ Diputació between C/ Aribau and C/ Villarroel, you’ll find the most heavily populated gay area of Barcelona (the heart of the ‘gaybourhood’, if you will), where it’s common to see rainbow flags hanging from shop and bar windows. Sharing my first cultural experience in a Jazz Bar in Barcelona, a cultural and exciting city with several Jazz Bars and Jazz clubs and restaurants. After having a tasteful Spanish dinner at a tapas bar in the centre of Barcelona we wanted to go to a Jazz Club to extend our evening of pleasure and cultural delight with a visit to one of Barcelona’s JAZZ CLUBS, but where to go? After having consulted our waiter for the evening, who happened to be a “golfo” (someone that goes out on a continuous basis) we were recommended to go to Jazzsí, a small cozy place at a stone’s throw from mercat sant antoni at calle Requesens 2, where different days different types of live music are preformed and our Wednesday evening happened to be the Jazz evening of Jazz club Jazzsí. We were told to go straight away because the place would be packed at 20:30. Read more...
