Exhibition impressions of the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona
I’ve been in Barcelona for 5 years and have only ever seen the monstrosity that is the 3GSM mobile show from the street passing by. This year I was lucky enough to get a badge to enter.
So my first day at the Mobile World Congress was quite overwhelming. But we’ll be back each day reporting on all the cool new products and companies we find. Tomorrow we’ll be attending the keynote speaker from Google, so there should be some juicy stuff to report on tomorrow.
Some Highlights of the Mobile World Congress 2010
- Microsoft reveals Windows Mobile 7 (there were some secret shots of the interface circulating around the web today)
- The world’s largest mobile operators have joined forces to launch an open international applications platform, marking the largest unified move to date by the operator community into the mobile apps space.
- Samsung last night unveiled ‘Wave,’ the first smartphone based on its own mobile operating system (OS), bada.
- Huawei will today unveil a lineup of new Android handsets, including what it claims is the world’s first HSPA+ smartphone based on Google’s operating system.
- Alcatel-Lucent is gearing up for a busy week at this year’s GSMA Mobile World Congress, with announcements planned surrounding its recent move into software.
- Nokia, world’s largest maker of phones and Intel, the world’s largest maker of computer chips, revealed today that they’re combining the software that they have been developing for smart phones.
- Dr Eric Schmidt, Chairman and CEO of Google is going to make a speech tomorrow Feb 16th 2010.
